- every flash photograph is two exposures in one - ambient light exposure and flash exposure.
- fill flash can be used when subject is backlit or side lit to eliminate silhouettes or shadows.
- flash exposure is not affected by the shutter speed.
- flash illumination is dramatically affected by distance.
- your camera measure ambient light and flash illumination separately.
- with automatic flash metering, the flash illumination is measured after the shutter button is pressed, and the flash output is adjusted accordingly.
- every SLR camera with a mechanical shutter box has a maximum flash sync shutter speed.
- harsh lighting, washed out subjects, and red eye can be eliminated by using diffusers and light bouncing.
- it is possible to change the order of when the flash fires using "rear curtain sync."
- removing the flash from the top of the camera helps eliminate red eye and unflattering shadows

1st Event Shoot Peer Review
Jamie D
1. My favorite image from the event shoot is the top one because I think it really captures emotion well.
2. My least favorite image is the third photo, I'm not fond of the lighting in it but it's still a great photo.
3. All of the pictures are really good and capture the emotion of the musical really well which can be hard to do.
4. I don't have any areas of improvement, all of the photos are really really good.
Painting Reproduction Peer Review
Rachel M
1. I think she reproduced the painting pretty well. The poses are the same, the colors of the dresses were the same, and she even got the watering can in the corner.
2. She did a good job recreating the painting, her photo looks really similar to the original painting.
6 Station Peer Review
Shayla P
1. My favorite photo is the light circle photo (first one in post). I just like how she has the two separate sets of bike wheels with different colors and I think it looks really cool.
2. My least favorite photo is the bubble one. I think it would have been better if she hadn't gotten the straw in the shot.
3. I think overall, the images are really good and I like the composition.
4. Some of the images seem to be a little bit dark.

Studio Tour
Why did you choose the set the studio up the way you did?
How do you go about finding models?
What equipment would you bring for a shoot outside of the studio?
At a shoot away from the studio, what do you do about restrictions on time and space?
What is your basic set up?
Why did you decide to become a photographer?
What was your best experience in the profession?
How long have you been a photographer (professionally)?
